The Federal, State and County governments continue to implement protocols for the reopening of Parks throughout Florida.

With Miami-Dade being the most populated area the neighboring cities and counties await the Mayor’s Task Force to outline the guidelines and social distancing standards that will be enforced by contracted security guards in each park.

Tennis will be limited to “Singles Play” so only 2 players per court will be enforced. Play is expected to resume by the end of this week or early next week according to the County Mayor’s office as well as the City of Coral Gables.

Public tennis facilities, Private Tennis Clubs and HOA’s will all be eagerly awaiting the new normal standards and operating procedures during the Covid-19 pandemic.

IMPROVISING TENNIS IN HOME CONFINEMENT

Many tennis players have been searching for new ways to stay active from the sport they miss. Many players have improvised indoors and outdoors using household items such as frying pans, kids tennis balls and even the side of a building.

Celebrities such as Roger Federer and Andy Murray have issued friendly challenges to help keep moral high in the tennis communities world wide.

MY FIRST 5 TENNIS JOBS

In 1982 I got my first paid tennis gig working the front desk at the Manheim Indoor Tennis Club in Lancaster, PA.

When the club was slow I would play while I watched the front desk. They had a second phone line by the hallway to the court. So my real skill was being able to sprint from the tennis court to the phone before they hung up to book a tennis reservation.

Who knew I’d be still at over 30 years later in the sport of tennis. But those first 5 jobs were mostly accidents and certainly molded me or should I say didn’t deter me from pursuing my passion of helping people learn the life time sport of tennis.

This podcast episode is about those first 5 tennis jobs.
