With no end in sight Rafael Nadal continues to dominate on the red clay tennis courts at Roland Garros. He currently leads Swiss legend Bjorn Borg 11 to 6 in French Open crowns but experts predict many more to come at his current rate of success.
After last years unprecedented 10th French Open victory there was talk Nadal would handicap himself to allow a greater challenge for himself against his peers.
None the less he continued to play left handed at this years 2018 tournament. Nadal did experience some cramping the the middle finger of his playing hand in the 3rd set so much so he couldn’t straighten it and needed to go briefly to the sideline.
“Tough moment, ” Nadal would say later. “I was very scared”.
The pulsing middle finger must have felt metaphoric to all of those who complained in the announcers booth about Nadal’s blatant time overages between serves where Grand Slams officials decided to not enforce the new “stricter” 25 second shot clock.
Las Vegas just released odds for the 2044 French Open when Nadal will be 58 years old. They have him as a 2:1 favorite over players that aren’t yet born. His agent, Carlos Costa, has begun preliminary negotiations about long term sponsorship arrangements with blue chip companies: AARP, Depends and Life Alert.
